Pyramid Bookshelf & Coffee Table

This piece is functionally a typical open bookshelf with a twist in its volume. It is an orderly stack of single shelf elements put on each other. The elements get shorter and lower going upwards, according to the different book sizes used. It creates a pyramid - like appearance, while its stair-like outline offers space for everyday objects. The shelf was made of Scots pine boards with a visible screw construction and an open back. This makes the shelf transparent from the front but closed from the sides creating interesting optical game.

Besides the shelf, a coffee table was made of the same material and construction. The table has a box-like shape with two magazine-sized inner containers. The containers have no hardware, so the cover can be opened using the two circle-shaped holes.

Scots pine, 181 x 30 x 240 cm & 99 x 79 x 38 cm
